About
Kayla Parker is an artist film-maker who creates innovative works for cinema, gallery, public and online spaces using film-based and digital technologies. She received the 2016 Plymouth-NiMAC Artists’ Residency Award for Father-land, a collaborative essay film project with Stuart Moore, premiered in the 'Layers of Visibility' exhibition at NiMAC [Oct 2018 to Juan 2019].
She shows her work internationally: venues include the Barbican, ICA, and Close-Up Cinema, London, ARTPLAY Design Center, Moscow, and Aurora Picture Show, Houston, and at festivals such as Punto y Raya, Trans(m)it, Tricky Women, and Kino der Kunst.
Kayla curates exhibitions of artists' moving image, such as Welcome to the Treasuredome, the festival of 360 artists’ film for the London 2012 Olympics, and 'Bodies of Water' for the Royal West of England Academy’s The Power of the Sea exhibition (2014).
