About
Martin Rieser was Professor of Digital Creativity, in the Institute of Creative Technologies, in De Montfort University, Leicester 2007-2012 and visiting Professor at the Pervasive Media Studio UWE Bristol 2012-2015. In 1990 he began experimenting with permanent digital ceramic printing for Public Art.
His research iinto mobile and pervasive media and interactive Public art ncludes the Vienna Underground a locative media commission for the emobilArt European workshop and Riverains for the b.Tween Festival in Manchester.
CV

His interactive installations have been shown around the world, including Understanding Echo shown in Japan 2002, Hosts Bath Abbey 2006, Secret Door Invideo Milan 2006, The Street RMIT Gallery Melbourne 2008/ISEA Belfast 2009, Secret Garden, Phoenix Square 2012/Taipei 2013 and RUR at Glyndebourne in 2014 for REFRAME at the University of Sussex.

He has developed mobile artworks for Leicester, London and Athens and exhibited the Third Woman Interactive film in Vienna, Xian and New York. He has acted as consultant to bodies such as Cardiff Bay Arts Trust, the Photographer’s Gallery London, Arkive in Bristol, The Soros Media Institute in Prague and UIAH in Helsinki.

Visiting Professor in the Digital Creativity Research Cluster at the University of the West of England. Until recently he was employed by De Montfort University at The Institute of Creative Technologies, as Professor of Digital Creativity. He was Professor of Digital Arts and Senior Teaching Fellow at Bath Spa University 2000-2007; Principal Lecturer in Digital Media at Napier University in Edinburgh at the Department of Photography, Film, and Television 1997-2000; Senior Lecturer in Electronic Media at UWE Bristol between 1986 – 1998. He set up one of the first post-graduate courses in the country in Digital Art and Imaging at the City of London Polytechnic, now London Metropolitan University 1980-85.


Edited: New Screen Media: Cinema/ Art/Narrative (BFI/ZKM, 2002)- which combined a DVD of current research and practice in this area together with critical essays and The Mobile Audience. in 2011 (Rodopi) documenting the rise of Locative and Mobile Media Art
