Descriptions & Essays
Aural Limbo is a series of aural interventions of the public space, engaging passersby in an inhabitable instrument that uses the body presence and location as variables for the dynamic transformation of sound. In Lapse Modulation, the space is flooded with continuous abstract sound pads that get "attached" to the experiencer who takes control of the playback head, revealing a recognizable piece of music previously indecipherable.
The play of this work is based on the idea that we can discover meaningful sound patterns in noise, in this case through an interface that reveals them, making us aware of the nature of listening itself.
