Descriptions & Essays
This is a hybrid version of TRANS-E: MY BODY, MY BLOOD, interactive installation, that received the 2000 UNESCO PRIZE FOR THE PROMOTION OF THE ARTS - 7th Biennial of La Habana, Cuba. We offer an immersive system with virtual realitys interfaces to proprioception and stereoscopic and new sets of animations. By interacting in a darked room simulating a cavern with projections of images people had visions and receive sounds managed by the complexity of a neural network. To stimulate the ritual trance a drum sound repeats an insistant rythm mixed to the heart beats. Simultaneously, a red liquid within a bowl moves by the infrared waves effects that connect the heat of bodies (Wilson:2002). To Afro-Brazilian popular religions, the blood is an offerenda to the life. Interacting in the installation, people as shamans, dialogue with the beyond and exchange responses generated in the invisible and enigmatic world of data stored in cyberspace. The shamans materialize their visions through the drawings. By interacting, people materialize the invisible data in ephemeral connections with electronic memories, going into unreal and visionary worlds. People say that the shamans goal is to avoid illnesses, to get rain, and mainly to establish the harmony of the group. In the installation, we stimulate several behaviors through digital technologies to go out of the real world and to receive the spirituality of artists ideas.
