The Butterfly in the Brain is the name of an exhibition that referenced the human nervous system. It consisted of a series of digital prints that employs the image of a brain that has been produced by MRI technology. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is used in medicine to picture organs of the body through strong magnetic fields. Using this image of the brain as a template, a single butterfly is superimposed on the image in addition to various ink blots (some are Rorschach ink blots; some not). While the inkblots differ in shape, the butterfly remains constant, but the overlapping ink blots alter the shape of the winged insect.
