Technology
Software
UpStage is a web-based venue for online performance; it is an open source server application that was first developed by Douglas Bagnall in 2003 and launched in January 2004. In 2021 it has been completely rebuilt to bring it up to date with current technologies. Please visit https://github.com/upstage-org/upstage for code and information.UpStage uses Flash to deliver real-time content to client browsers; because of this dependency, it does not function on mobile phones or tablets. The project is currently (2017) undergoing a complete rebuild in order to remove this dependency on Flash, take advantage of many new technologies, and become more accessible. This work is being undertaken by Paul Rohrlach and computing students at the Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand.
