Computer-controlled light installation with three LED bars
Lower Austria State Academy, St Pölten (A), competition 1992, realization 1997 (after moving to the government district of St Pölten)
The installation 'Virtual Terms' was designed for the Lower Austria Academy of Music in 1992 and realised after its reallocation to the government quarter of St Pölten. Three vertical light beams are mounted on two walls in the entrance area at eye level. Each of the bars, changing at intervals of 15 minutes, reproduces a single word, forming several words that are successively deciphered, becoming a sentence. By means of computer control, grammatically correct sentences are combined from different word catalogues. In their construction, they are headlines, which also act as images in their conciseness. At the same time, the power of these headlines is destroyed by the words being chosen in such a way that they interfere with one another and/or cancel out their weighting.
