Series 'Mirrors of the Unseen (MotU)'
'Floating Signs 2' features three light sticks, each consisting of a vertical bar of white flickering LEDs. For the viewer, the words and images seem to emerge from the bars, appearing as holograms in front of the architecture and the environment.
The light sticks are joined together by their content – the eighteenth-century French enlightenment theme "Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité". The motto is interwoven in diverse ways with the history of European democracies. Interpretations are assigned to each of the three concepts, which stand for an updating and a reconfiguration of the underlying democratic ideals.
