Video sculpture
English title, [Suitcase, 1993]
A video is projected into a suitcase. The source image is the well-known photo depicting Anna and Sigmund Freud in 1938, looking out of a train window on the occasion of their emigration. Layerings, blurring and superimpositions set the picture in motion. One can hear the rhythmic sounds of a moving train, from the inside of a compartment.
The video sculpture 'Koffer' was originally designed for the project 'Kunst: Die ½ Miete [art: ½ the rent]'. For a period of one month, private households hosted a work of art and opened their apartments to the public at certain times of the day.
The work depicts the exhibitions' concept of the abolition of protection zones.
