In To Be Is To Get Cut, I consider the sociopolitical structures and behaviors that are otherwise hard to realize from inside the microcosm of society. To do that, I use digital media. That allows me to create a self-sustained ecosystem that exists in the virtual world and in a time parallel to ours. At the same time, I intend to make clear the direct interaction and connection that one has with a digital media. I want to reveal that both reality and images are connected as the intangible surface of software correlates with the immaterial surface of the eyes. The language that controls our movements at a higher or lower level with the language of a computer. The spine on which my work is based on is the idea of interaction and what we can consider as a sensible being except from the animals and the plants. To evolve those ideas, I created a series of characters called Piki Piki. A Piki Piki is the manifestation of a digital living being. Each one of them will be able to survive and reproduce as they interact with each other, thereby sustaining their existence.
